1847 Appointed Assitant Surgeon, Royal Navy - first at Haslar then at the Naval Hospital, Devonport. (4)
1848 to 49 Appointed Assistant Surgeon and Naturalist aboard 'The Investigator' in James Ross' expedition to the Arctic. Then on the 'Enterprise' in an expedition to the Baring Straits
1850 to 1855 Involved in Arctic expeditions.
1855 Returned to England. (4)
Nov. 1855 Appointed Full Surgeon on HM Steam Sloop 'Hecla'.
12 Nov.1856 Died of typhus, aged 32, in Sierra Leone. (4)
